December 21–23, 2007: Come rest and delight in the sanctuary of Shabbat. Rabbi Sigal Brier offers teachings and insights on the spiritual aspect of Jewish Sabbath rituals using contemplative practices that include chanting, meditation, movement, and Torah study to nourish the soul and encourage you to remember your authentic self.

"Sabbath is a sanctuary in time," wrote Abraham Joshua Heschel. "It leads us to a realm of endless peace, or to the beginning of an awareness of what eternity means. It is a day on which we are called upon to share in what is eternal in time, to turn from the results of creation to the mystery of creation, from the world of creation to the creation of the world."

In this spirit, we will explore the rich narratives in the book of Genesis, holding them up as mirrors to reflect upon the nature of your soul and to bring awareness and clarity to your relationship with God. Throughout the weekend, you will experience and learn a variety of Shabbat practices you can take home with you to continue nurturing your soul.
